Cecile Martin

Founder and Director | cecile@summershowoffs.com

Cecile McNeel Martin received her Bachelor of Music Education from Mississippi University for Women and her Master of Music Education from Mississippi State University. During college, Cecile performed in the musical groups “Meh Ladies” and “The Masker’s Washboard Band”. While in graduate school at MSU, she was a graduate assistant voice instructor. At her first teaching assignment in Grenada, Mississippi, she founded and directed the show choirs: Visions, Sophisticats, and Pizzazz.

During those early years of teaching elementary music in rural Mississippi, Cecile introduced a new teaching concept into her classroom; Teaching every child to sing a solo in front of the entire class. She also taught the remainder of the class how to give positive encouragement and feedback to their classmate during the performance. While the soloist sang, the classroom of children were instructed to: listen intently, applaud, and cheer! Cecile witnessed a remarkable change in each child’s countenance as they experienced this new feeling of confidence. Other teachers noticed their students return from the music classroom encouraged, excited, and energized, ready to reach their potential in other areas of their school life including math, reading, sports, and even friendships! From this new teaching concept, giving confidence and character to children, Summer Show-Offs was born.

Cecile was selected to participate in a women’s professional exchange program as a music education instructor in London, England. There she was instrumental in developing a music curriculum for junior high and high school choral music programs. Cecile regularly judges show choir auditions and competitions throughout the southeast. She has been a vocal clinician for the Mississippi Baptist Convention, the 4H Clubs of America, and the Mississippi Fine Arts Association. Cecile and her husband Randy live in Birmingham and are members of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. They have 3 grown children, Catie Marie Niolet (Adam), Darby Presley (Toler), and Connor, and one grandson.

Music can change lives! As a former student of Cecile Martin, Robyn is a firm believer in the Summer Show-Offs process: Building confidence and character through song and dance. She is a product of this philosophy.  Her life was forever changed through music. She continually testifies of the confidence she gained through music. Robyn is a native of Mississippi and has been involved in teaching performance techniques for over 25 years.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Delta State University. While at DSU, Robyn toured the United States and Europe as a vocalist. She founded and directed the show choirs Encore and Crescendo while teaching music in Mississippi.

Robyn lives in Birmingham, Alabama, where she is a member of Church of The Highlands.  She is married to Jason Meredith, and they have two children, Morgan and Corbin (Taylor) and one grandson.
