SSO IN A NUTSHELL

Summer Show-Offs is a five-day show choir day camp for rising 1st through 12th graders. The camp is divided into four age groups: 1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th, and 7th - 12th. Each group learns a set of five songs with music and choreography chosen specifically for their age group.

What makes SSO a unique performing arts camp is that every camper is given the opportunity to sing a solo. The overall SSO camp experience builds confidence and character though song and dance.

Specific camp details will be provided by email to registered campers one week prior to their camp date.

Q - Who should come to the performance on Friday?

A - The performance is an exciting day for our campers.  Every child will have a solo and you will not want to miss it! Please invite friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, teachers, etc! The performance is FREE, and we welcome everyone! The show lasts about 90 minutes.  Doors open 20 minutes prior to show time.

Q - My child likes to sing, but doesn’t want to sing a solo.  Can he/she still come to camp?

A - Absolutely! Send your precious child to camp!  They will gain confidence and learn lifelong skills.

Q - If a child has special medical, physical or emotional needs, will they be able to attend camp?

A - While Summer Show-Offs is NOT a camp for children with special needs and our staff is NOT specifically trained to accomodate campers with special needs, we do have a LIMITED amount of space for campers with special needs.  If your child has special needs, please complete the registration process and then email our staff (cecile@summershowoffs.com).  We will need to speak with you directly about your child's needs and OUR AVAILABILITY before your child's registration can be confirmed.  Please do not submit a payment until our director has confirmed availability for your registration.

Q - Can I video the performance – or just my child’s solo?

A - Great question! We prefer that you do not video during the performance. It can be distracting for others watching and can interfere with the videographer’s product.

Q - Will a video of the performance be available?

A - Yes!  All camp participants will receive an email with a link to view the camp performance. This is FREE to all campers!

Q - Can I take pictures during the performance?

A – For the safety of our performers, NO flash photography is allowed.  Other photos that can be taken from your seat without obstructing other audience members are allowed.

Q - What is Counselor Shine?

A - Counselor Shine  is an amazing performance showcasing our talented SSO staff.  We have fun skits, great singing & dancing…and your camper may vote for his or her favorite counselor to be ‘pied in the face’!

Q - When is Counselor Shine?

A - Counselor Shine will be Thursday, June 13th, at 7:00 PM at Jackson Academy in Jackson, Mississippi AND also on Tuesday, July 16th, at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Birmingham, Alabama.

Q - My child will have to miss one day of camp.  Can he/she still attend?

A - While each day is crucial as it is packed with new songs and choreography – we understand that conflicts do arise.  If you feel you may miss more than a day of camp – try scheduling a different week! We cover a lot of ground in 5 days to put on a grand performance by Friday, so attendance is important! We encourage campers to be present all 5 days!

Q - Who are the staff members?

A -  Our Summer Show-Offs staff members are enthusiastic, talented, positive role models and have a genuine desire to work with children.  Staff members are recruited from colleges, universities and local high school seniors.   Many of our staff have grown up with us at Summer Show-Offs.
