Q: What happens if my child is exposed to or has coronavirus and must quarantine during camp week?

A:  If your child contracts COVID or must quarantine due to exposure to COVID, we will be glad to send videos for them to learn the week's choreography.  We have handled this situation several times during HSO 2020, and we can make accommodations for your child if the situation arises during camp week.

Q - May I transfer my payment to another camper?
A - We cannot transfer one camper's payment to another camper.
If camp is cancelled, registrations and/or tuition may not be held or transferred.

Q - How long does camp last each day?

A - Camp lasts from 9-2 on Monday-Thursday.  See Friday schedule below.

Q - Will you provide a drop-off and pick-up point?

A - On the 1st day of camp, please park, and walk your child into Summer Show-Offs.  We will register your camper and introduce them to their counselor.  You can meet some of our staff, as well.  Each morning after, please follow the ‘carpool’ line if you would like a staff person to help your camper out of the car.  Always feel free to park and walk your camper inside.  In the afternoon, for the younger campers, (up to rising 6th) please park and walk in to get your camper.

Q - Can I drop my child off earlier than 9:00 AM?

A -  Staff is present before 9:00 AM, however we are getting ready to receive the campers, setting up and having staff meetings.  We ask that you do not drop your child off before 8:45 AM.

Q - Can I pick up my camper after 2:00 PM?

A - Childcare after 2:00 is not provided.  We ask that you arrive at 1:45 so that you may have a chance to see what your camper has learned during the day.  If time permits, we do try to encourage at least one group to “show-off” at this time! We also make announcements and it’s a great chance for you to connect with your child’s counselor to inquire about the day!

Q - What does Friday's schedule look like?

A - Our day-to-day schedule for 2021 may look a little different, including performances.  If large crowds are still prohibited, we could possibly stagger the performances by age group.  However, regardless of how the schedule looks, we believe without a shadwo of a doubt that each camper will gain confidence and feel accomplished, encouraged and empowered.  Everyone needs this confidence and security now more than ever.

Q - What is the length of the performance on Friday?

A - The Friday performance, which includes all age groups, will last approximately 90 minutes.

Q - What about lunch?

A - Campers will eat lunch together with their counselors Monday - Thursday.  You may either pre-purchase lunch for your child through the camp store or pack a sack lunch.  Options for pre-purchasing lunches will be emailed before camp begins.  On Friday, we will have a pizza party, so no sack lunch is necessary, unless your child has a food allergy pertaining to pizza.  Water bottles will be available for purchase throughout the week.

Q - What should my child wear to camp each day?

A - Please wear comfortable clothing.   Socks and tennis shoes are a MUST. No slip-ons, sandals, or flip-flops.  We will be doing a lot of fun choreography!

Q - What should my child wear to the performance on Friday?

A - Each Camper will be given their Summer Show-Offs performance t-shirt on Thursday to take home and wear for Friday’s performance.  This shirt is included in the tuition. Please wear appropriate length khaki shorts and tennis shoes for the show!

Q - Who should come to the performance on Friday?

A - The performance is an exciting day for our campers.  Every child will have a solo and you will not want to miss it! Please invite friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, teachers, etc…! The performance is FREE and we welcome everyone! The show lasts about 90 minutes.  Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time.

Q - My child likes to sing, but doesn’t want to sing a solo.  Can he/she still come to camp?

A - Absolutely! Bring your precious child to camp!  They will gain confidence and learn lifelong skills.

Q - If a child has special medical, physical or emotional needs, will they be able to attend camp?

A - While Summer Show-Offs is NOT a camp for children with special needs and our staff is NOT specifically trained to accomodate campers with special needs, we do have a LIMITED amount of space for campers with special needs.  If your child has special needs, please complete the registration process and then email our staff (  We will need to speak with you directly about your child's needs and OUR AVAILABILITY before your child's registration can be confirmed.  Please do not submit a payment until our director has confirmed availability for your registration.

Q - Can I video the performance – or just my child’s solo?

A - Great question! We know everyone probably has access to handheld digital recorders and/or phones with video capability… However, we have contracted with a videographer.  There is NO videotaping during the performance.  It can be distracting for others watching and can interfere with the videographer’s product.  We also ask there is NO flash photography! This also affects the production of the DVDs of the show and may interfere with the safety of the children.

Q - Will a video of the performance be available?

A - Yes!  All camp participants will receive an email with a link to view the camp performance. This is FREE to all campers!  You should receive the link within 3 weeks of your camp performance.

Q - Is a hard copy DVD of the performance available?

A - If you wish to receive a hard copy archival DVD, you must log in to your account on the SSO website and request your copy no later than the Monday following your camp performance.  There is a $15 shipping and handling fee.  Please allow 4-5 weeks for delivery.

Q - Can I take pictures during the performance?

A – For the safety of our performers, NO flash photography is allowed.  Other photos that can be taken from your seat without obstructing other audience members are allowed.  We also have a professional photographer available at most performances.  These pictures can be purchased through a website a few days after the performance.

Q - What is Counselor Shine?

A - Counselor Shine  is an amazing performance showcasing our talented SSO staff.  We have fun skits, great singing & dancing…and your camper may vote for his or her favorite counselor to be ‘pied in the face’!

Q - When is Counselor Shine?

A - Counselor Shine will be Thursday, June 10th, at 7:00 PM at Jackson Academy in Jackson, Mississippi AND also on Tuesday, July 20th, at Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, Alabama, at 5:00 and 7:30 PM.

Q - My child will have to miss one day of camp.  Can he/she still attend?

A - While each day is crucial as it is packed with new songs and choreography – we understand that conflicts do arise.  If you feel you may miss more than a day of camp – try scheduling a different week! We cover a lot of ground in 5 days to put on a grand performance by Friday, so attendance is important! We encourage campers to be present all 5 days!

Q - Who are the staff members?

A -  Our Summer Show-Offs staff members are enthusiastic, talented, positive role models and have a genuine desire to work with children.  Staff members are recruited from colleges, universities and local high schools.   Most of our staff have grown up with us at Summer Show-Offs and understand our philosophy.
