Q - When does Holiday Show-Offs 2021 Registration open?
A - Registration for Holiday Show-Offs will open on Wednesday, June 2nd, at 10:00 a.m.
Q - Are there any perks to participating in HSO?
A - In addition to building your child's confidence and character, all HSO participants will be given the opportunity to register early for Summer Show-Offs camps! Also, for those who have a perfect attendance record at HSO rehearsals, there will be a drawing for one free SSO tuition.
Cecile and Robyn have many, many calls for voice lessons throughout the year. Last year, they provided vocal coaching to many of our HSO participants, and we had a GRAND SOLO performance at the beginning of the holiday season. The performance was outside and kicked off the Holidays - it was so much fun! As a participant of HSO, you will be eligible to participate in a vocal workshop with Cecile and Robyn. This will include three sessions culminating with a grand performance at Lee Branch Shopping Center. The cost of the Vocal Workshop is $150 and is ONLY AVAILABLE TO HSO PARTICIPANTS!
Q - When does my child rehearse?
A - Most age groups will have two options when selecting their rehearsal day. Please check the HSO 2021 Rehearsal Schedule tab on our website. You choose the class/day of the week, and that will be your child's rehearsal day for September, October, and November and December. There are two different performance weekends in December, so when you register be sure to check which weekend your child's performance will be held!
Q - When do rehearsals begin?
A - Rehearsals begin the week of September 13th.
Q - Will the performances be like last year?
A - For HSO 2021, we have a new performance design that we think you will all love - different from last year, but not exactly like the years in the past! This year we will go back to larger, multi-group performances, however, the performances will not be quite as large as we had in the past.

3rd Grade Girls - Monday - 4:30 - 5:10 (Reindeer)
4th & 5th Grade Girls - Wednesday - 4:00 - 4:40 (50s Girls)
6th Grade Girls - Wednesday - 5:00 - 5:40 (Country Chics)
7th & 8th Grade Girls AND 6th-8th Grade Boys - Tuesday - 5:30 - 6:10
9th – 12th Grade Girls & Guys - Sunday - 2:30 - 4:00

Q - Will we wear masks to rehearsals and performances?
A - At this point, masks will be required at Holiday Show-Offs rehearsals. We are closely monitoring Covid.
Q - How is Holiday Show-Offs different from Summer Show-Offs?
A - Holiday Show-Offs is a holiday production that is offered only in Birmingham, Alabama. Students attend a weekly rehearsal during the months of September, October, November and December leading up to the performance weekends in December. While Summer Show-Offs is a one-week camp with shorts and camp t-shirts, Holiday Show-Offs is a full holiday production with lights, many costumes, Santa, Mrs. Claus and much, much more!
Q - How do I register my child for HSO?
A - Click on the Holiday Show-Offs tab at the top of the home page of the SSO website, then click on "Register for Holiday Show-Offs". Make sure you pay close attention to which performance you are registering for!
Q - What age children can attend HSO?
A - HSO is for rising grades 1st through 12th; boys must be in rising 2nd grade.
Q - What are the age groups?
A - 1st and 2nd grade girls; 3rd grade girls; 4th and 5th grade girls; 6th grade girls; 7th and 8th grade girls; 9th-12th grade girls; 11th & 12th grade girls (red dresses); 2nd-5th grade boys; 6th-8th grade boys; 9th-12th grade boys.
Q - What is the cost of HSO?
A - The cost of HSO is $420.
Q - When is payment due?
A - $210 is due at registration and the balance is due by October 1st.
Q - What does the registration fee cover?
A - The registration fee covers classes during the months of September, October, November and December; costume(s); staff for the performance weeks; cost of facilities, sound, and lights.
Q - What is the cost of costumes?
A - Your costume fee is covered in your registration. Some groups MAY be asked to purchase miscellaneous costume items.
Q - How do I make payment?
A - Payment can be made online with Visa or Mastercard (a service fee will be applied), or you can send a paper check to the Summer Show-Offs office at:

Q - What is the refund policy?
A - If you need to cancel your registration prior to August 1st, we will refund half of your registration fee. After August 1st, no refunds will be issued.
Q - May I transfer my payment to another child or to another camp?
A - We cannot transfer one child's payment to another child or to another camp.
Q: Can children with special needs participate in HSO?
A: Summer Show-Offs has a large staff and can accomodate a limited number of children with special needs. However, the Holiday Show-Offs program is structured differently. Because of the complexity of the production and our smaller staff, we want to ensure our ability to service the needs of every child before confirming your registration.

Q - What should my child wear to rehearsal?
A - Please wear comfortable clothing. Socks and tennis shoes are a MUST. No slip-ons, sandals, or flip-flops. We will be doing a lot of fun choreography!
Q - When and where will the HSO performances be held?
A - The performance dates are December 3rd and 4th OR December 10th and 11th, depending on the class/rehearsal day where your child is registered. The location and specific times of the performances are to be determined.
Q - Can I video the performance?
A - Great question! We know everyone probably has access to handheld digital recorders and/or phones with video capability… However, we have contracted with a videographer. There is NO videotaping during the performance. It can be distracting for others watching and can interfere with the videographer’s product. We also ask that there is NO flash photography! This affects the production of the DVDs of the show and may interfere with the safety of the children.
Q - Will a video of the performance be available?
A - Yes! All HSO participants will receive an email with a link to view the performance. This is FREE to all HSO participants! You should receive the link within 3 weeks after Holiday Show-Offs.
Q - Is a hard copy DVD of the performance available?
A - If you wish to receive a hard copy archival DVD, you must request the copy online when you register your child. If you have already registered your child, you can also log back in to your HSO registration account and request your copy no later than the Monday following the performance. There is a $15 shipping and handling fee. Please allow 6-7 weeks for delivery.
Q - Can I take pictures during the performance?
A - For the safety of our performers, NO flash photography is allowed. Other photos that can be taken from your seat without obstructing other audience members are allowed. We also have a professional photographer available at most performances. These pictures can be purchased through a website after the performance.
Q - How can I order pictures of the HSO performances?
A - Some pictures will be taken during the rehearsal and will be available for purchase during the performance times. A link to purchase additional pictures will be emailed to you after the HSO performance weekend.
